Citizens phones were ringing late last night and this morning as many of them received their first introduction to the county's "Code Red" notification system. The automated system dials telephone numbers and relays text messages and emails to subscribers to notify them of emergencies. This morning the Code Red system warned subscribers about low water crossings and reported that Kerr County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Kerrville Fire Department had to rescue one driver who was washed off the low water crossing and we are in the process of looking for one other driver.

No details have surfaced about the two drivers or their conditions. More information will be presented as it becomes available.
